State-Based COVID-19 Mortgage Relief
States have responded in several ways to assist borrowers impacted by the COVID-19 emergency. These actions come from state legislatures, governor’s offices, and state regulatory agencies. In many instances, the relief has been limited to imposing moratoria on foreclosure activities. However, several states have gone further and established requirements for substantive relief for borrowers with their payments. This relief has included both forbearance and the implementation of post-forbearance options. Be sure to check with a housing counselor or other knowledgeable person to determine if your state has passed any COVID-related relief that could benefit you.
